At the piano I started at eleven, teaching myself. Then came a teacher, two years of music school, and a better, independent teacher until I was eighteen. Since then I have gone on learning by myself, at the keyboard and on paper.
What I write is mostly in Chopin's footsteps: waltzes, polonaises and other pieces in his manner, alongside rags in the Joplin tradition, arrangements of pieces I love and a few musical jokes. Right now I am writing a new rag after Satie's Le Piccadilly: it should feel like walking through Paris in 1910. At work I have an engineering degree in IT and have always built software on the side. Today I run Wavyzz, a small software company in Lille, where we make Reflow and Vinds for people who sell online. For musicians I build Ear Trainer, Virtuoso and Arpevia Studio.
Off the clock I work out a lot, and I am learning to fly: I am training for my private pilot's licence on small planes, the DR400 and the APM 30. Now and then I jump out of a plane instead. And I love learning all kinds of things: history, languages, the sciences, the arts, trivia, and a lot of reading.
